    Relationship Amongst Technology Use, Work Overload, and Psychological Detachment from Work

    Permanent connection to the work world as a result of new technologies raises the possibility of workday extensions and excessive workloads. The present study addresses the relationship between technology and psychological detachment from work resulting from work overload. Participants were 313 professionals from the health sector who responded to three instruments used in similar studies. Through PLS-SEM, regression and dependence analyses were developed, and through the bootstrapping method, significance of factor loadings, path coefficients and variances were examined. Results of the study corroborate a negative effect of technology use on psychological detachment from work and a positive correlation between technology and work overload. Additionally, there is a significant indirect effect of technology on psychological detachment from work as a result of work overload. Findings extend the literature related to the stressor-detachment model, and support the idea that workers who are often connected to their jobs by technological tools are less likely to reach adequate psychological detachment levels.     BIM: a technology acceptance model in Peru

    The purpose of this paper is to empirically study factors that facilitate the adoption of building information modelling (BIM) among practitioners using the unified theory of technology acceptance model (TAM). The factors identified in the TAM were examined using a quantitative approach. The empirical investigation has been conducted using a survey questionnaire. The data set has been obtained from 73 architects and engineers in Peru. Results show that Perceived Usefulness (PU) is the most important determinant of Behavioural Intention (BI), while Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) is found to have no significant effect on BI. The findings provide an excellent backdrop in the development of policy and a roadmap for BIM implementation in Peru. The original contribution and value of the paper is the use of TAM to provide empirical evidence on factors that facilitate BIM adoption in Peru

Bei diesem europäischen Projekt handelte es sich um eine transnationale Studie, in der in verschiedenen Ländern neue Formen der Zeitnutzung im Umgang mit sozialen Dienstleistungen zur Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Privatleben gesammelt und ausgewertet wurden. Die Auswertung sollte qualitative Indikatoren ermitteln, die es Verwaltungen, Organisationen, Firmen, usw. erlauben, sich bei der Planung von innovativen Projekten zur Zeitgestaltung an Ergebnissen aus bestehenden Praxiserfahrungen orientieren zu können.     Thermal Characterization of Conductive Filaments in Unipolar Resistive Memories

    A methodology to estimate the device temperature in resistive random access memories (RRAMs) is presented. Unipolar devices, which are known to be highly influenced by thermal effects in their resistive switching operation, are employed to develop the technique. A 3D RRAM simulator is used to fit experimental data and obtain the maximum and average temperatures of the conductive filaments (CFs) that are responsible for the switching behavior. It is found that the experimental CFs temperature corresponds to the maximum simulated temperatures obtained at the narrowest sections of the CFs.     Modeling the variability of Au/ Ti/h BN/Au memris t ive devices

    The variability of memristive devices using multilayer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) coupled with Ti and Au electrodes (i.e., Au/Ti/h-BN/Au) is analyzed in depth using different numerical techniques. We extract the reset voltage using three different methods, quantified its cycle-to-cycle variability, calculated the charge and flux that allows to minimize the effects of electric noise and the inherent stochasticity of resistive switching, described the device variability using time series analyses to assess the “memory” effect, and employed a circuit breaker simulator to understand the formation and rupture of the percolation paths that produce the switching.     Variability and power enhancement of current controlled resistive switching devices

    characterized using both current and voltage sweeps, with the device resistance and its cycle-to-cycle variability being analysed in each case. Experimental measurements indicate a clear improvement on resistance states stability when using current sweeps to induce both set and reset processes. Moreover, it has been found that using current to induce these transitions is more efficient than using voltage sweeps, as seen when analysing the device power consumption. The same results are obtained for devices with a Ni top electrode and a bilayer or pentalayer of HfO2/Al2O3 as dielectric.     Spiking neural networks based on two-dimensional materials

    The development of artificial neural networks using memristors is gaining a lot of interest among technological companies because it can reduce the computing time and energy consumption. There is still no memristor, made of any material, capable to provide the ideal figures-of-merit required for the implementation of artificial neural networks, meaning that more research is required. Here we present the use of multilayer hexagonal boron nitride based memristors to implement spiking neural networks for image classification. Our study indicates that the recognition accuracy of the network is high, and that can be resilient to device variability if the number of neurons employed is large enough.     El propósito de este documento es investigar los determinantes que influyen en los consumidores en su elección de formatos minoristas para diferentes tareas de compra de comestibles. Esta investigación descompondrá el valor total del cliente en las dimensiones planteadas en la teoría de los valores de consumo de Sheth: dimensiones funcionales, emocionales, sociales y epistémicas y probará empíricamente esta conceptualización. La contribución principal es el análisis y las pruebas empíricas del valor total del cliente considerando el valor condicional como una variable moderadora; la extensión de la teoría original de Sheth, proponiendo la inclusión de una variable adicional a la dimensión social - valores de la comunidad - en un contexto de mercado minorista de comestibles en mercados emergentes. Ser capaz de aumentar la comprensión de los ejecutivos de marketing y minoristas de estos aspectos adicionales del comportamiento de compra del consumidor es muy relevante, especialmente en un contexto de mercados minoristas altamente competitivos y en gran medida comercializados como factores diferenciadores y posibles fuentes de ventaja competitiva.The purpose of this document is to investigate the determinants that influence consumers in their choice of retail formats for different grocery shopping tasks. This research will decompose total customer value into the dimensions posited in Sheth’s theory of consumption values: functional, emotional, social and epistemic dimensions and empirically test this conceptualization. The principal contribution is the analysis and empirical testing of total customer value considering the conditional value as a moderating variable; the extension of Sheth´s original theory, proposing the inclusion of an additional variable to the social dimension - community values - in an emerging market grocery retail context. Being able to increase marketing and retail executives’ understanding of these additional aspects of consumer purchasing behavior is very relevant especially in a context of highly competitive, largely commoditized retail markets as differentiating factors and potential sources of competitive advantage

    The clinical relevance of oliguria in the critically ill patient : Analysis of a large observational database

Copyright: Copyright 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Background: Urine output is widely used as one of the criteria for the diagnosis and staging of acute renal failure, but few studies have specifically assessed the role of oliguria as a marker of acute renal failure or outcomes in general intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Using a large multinational database, we therefore evaluated the occurrence of oliguria (defined as a urine output 16 years) patients in the ICON audit who had a urine output measurement on the day of admission were included. To investigate the association between oliguria and mortality, we used a multilevel analysis. Results: Of the 8292 patients included, 2050 (24.7%) were oliguric during the first 24 h of admission. Patients with oliguria on admission who had at least one additional 24-h urine output recorded during their ICU stay (n = 1349) were divided into three groups: transient - oliguria resolved within 48 h after the admission day (n = 390 [28.9%]), prolonged - oliguria resolved > 48 h after the admission day (n = 141 [10.5%]), and permanent - oliguria persisting for the whole ICU stay or again present at the end of the ICU stay (n = 818 [60.6%]). ICU and hospital mortality rates were higher in patients with oliguria than in those without, except for patients with transient oliguria who had significantly lower mortality rates than non-oliguric patients. In multilevel analysis, the need for RRT was associated with a significantly higher risk of death (OR = 1.51 [95% CI 1.19-1.91], p = 0.001), but the presence of oliguria on admission was not (OR = 1.14 [95% CI 0.97-1.34], p = 0.103). Conclusions: Oliguria is common in ICU patients and may have a relatively benign nature if only transient. The duration of oliguria and need for RRT are associated with worse outcome.publishersversionPeer reviewe
